The Heritage Harbour Drama Club is an organization of individuals interested in staging and participating in theatrical productions and related activities.
The Drama Club's initial production took place in the fall of 1980. It has been successfully entertaining residents of our community since that time. The schedule followed for performances is two shows per year, a musical production in the Fall and a comedy in the Spring. This allows all club members to showcase their particular talent, whether it be acting, singing, dancing, or playing a musical instrument.
The Fall show begins rehearsals during August of each year with scheduled dates of performance in November. The Spring production begins rehearsals during February with performances in May. Except for the summer months of June and July, the Drama Club is active all year.
The casts may be 10 members for plays, and approximately 25 members for musical presentations. In addition to artistic talent, there are other areas where interested residents can provide assistance. Each production requires a director, assistant director, business/production manager, stage manager and prompter. Also people are needed for set design and construction, props management, wardrobe coordination, lights and sound management, make-up artistry, program design and printing, ticket sales, photography, and hospitality assistants. All of these jobs are important and help bring life to a script.
A few past productions have been "Arsenic and Old Lace," "Never Too Late," "Snow White," "Annie," "Cinderella," "Hazy Lazy Days," and the "The Cats Meow," Many of the shows were written by our Drama Club members.
Photos of some of these many shows are in the slide show below.
All residents of Heritage Harbour are invited to join the Drama Club, whether they have the ability to perform or are willing to give of their particular talent in another area. The pleasure gained and friendships developed while working on a theatrical production are extremely rewarding. The Heritage Harbour Drama Club meets the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Lodge. During production rehearsals, the meeting are held immediately following rehearsal in the Auditorium.
