The Heritage Harbour Homeowners Association changed its name to the Civic Association of Heritage Harbour Homeowners (CAHHH) in September 2010 since it was often confusing to distinguish between the Heritage Harbour Homeowners Association (HHHA) and the Heritage Harbour Community Association (HHCA). The Community Association (HHCA) receives your monthly assessment ($138 for 2010) and is responsible for maintaining its amenities, i.e., lodge, golf course, clubhouse, swimming pools, tennis complex, RV storage lot, waterfront, community bus, and all common grounds. As a civic association of homeowners, CAHHH welcomes your participation and support in their effort to make Heritage Harbour "a great place to live."
Since its incorporation in 1984, the Civic Association has been serving the community by dealing with matters and problems that are ‘external’ to the community’s responsibilities. The purpose of the CAHHH is to alert and inform its residents about developments and actions affecting the community including commercial development in the area, county, state and governmental actions; about all other matters which may affect the quality of life of the residents of Heritage Harbour; and to develop and implement appropriate responses thereto to advance the general welfare of the Heritage Harbour community. Other matters which may come to the attention of CAHHH may include, but not limited to, power outages, traffic issues, snow removal on county streets, and emergency, fire, and medical services, etc. HHHA also does its best to support other services and needs in the community that are either provided by, or are the responsibility of HHCA, but which may need further help in some form, including financial assistance. Recent outcomes of CAHHH’s efforts on the community’s behalf:
- Arranged for the U.S. Postal Service to be available in the Lodge each month (which will continue as long as sufficient residents take advantage of those services)
- Financial contributions included funds to HHCA for pull down bar door in the auditorium to eliminate the sounds coming from the ice machine; funds to the HHMYC for an electric starter and timer for boat races on the lake; and underwrote the cost of the Stretch Zone station in the Fitness Center
- Collected nearly 1,500 signatures and spearheaded the successful petition drive for the installation of left turn signals at the Route 450 and South Haven Road intersection - the work to be completed prior to the 2010 Renaissance Festival
- Hosted a ‘listening session’ with District 33B MD State Delegate Bob Costa, where he discussed State concerns with community residents
- Annual Meeting guest speakers from Anne Arundel Medical Center highlighted existing facilities, updated audience on their new facilities, and responded to questions.
CAHHH holds its Board meetings bimonthly in the Lodge Conference Room at 2 PM on the second Friday of January, March, May, July, September, and November and will host its annual general membership meeting in the fall. Announcements regarding such meetings will normally be made on the community TV channel and the HHCA Blog. Residents are invited to attend those meetings.
The Civic Association is comprised of seven Districts. Each homeowner’s CAHHH District has its own elected representative on the CAHHH Board of Directors.
Our voluntary membership is by calendar year. Should you join in November or December, your membership continues through December of the next calendar year.
To do all the things that might be expected of us requires the cooperation of our Civic Association members. Therefore, we hope you will join us in supporting our goals and activities by volunteering occasionally when needed. Please let us know of any issue or concern that you feel CAHHH can be helpful in addressing.
